This demonstration piece represents the departure point for a new way of making furniture. Normally, metal finishing operations like plating are for corrosion resistance. In this case, copper tube soft enough to bend by hand was reinforced with nickel for structural rigidity. The method eliminates the constraints of normal tube-bending, and it enables a great variety of new form. This is the first application of this technique in furniture design. There is more to come.
